I don't know what you're looking for. The usda has a database. It's not complete and you have to get used to how to find stuff, but you could try there.

    http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search

Once you know what it is, you can enter it into mfp yourself.

Maray, most chain restaurants must provide nutrition info somewhere, either in the restaurant, on the menu, or online. Anything you but at the supermarket, except fresh prepared food and produce, has nutrition info.

If you dont know it, or what it has (if, say, at a potluck or family gathering), then give it your best guess. Put a simple name in the food log and see what others came up with.

If you're using the iPhone app use the bar code scanner. Scan it and enter the number of servings you ate. Voila.

Always double check the bar code scanner it is not always accurate just as the entries on here aren't always accurate either. when in doubt, if you can weigh it with a food scale do that and look it up online like under the USDA website.

USDA database is one place to go, particularly for produce. Various agricultural organization (beef producers, chicken producers, farmers who sell to the public) can also be good for specific items (beef, pork, chicken, bison, emu, ostrich, etc.) Manufacturer websites if it's for a specific packaged product (flour, sugar, oils, cereal grains) have nutrient info and recipes - there's no shortage of places to find things if you look.
