This is my 3...4th time attempting to loose weight and this time i really want to do it! I had back surgery in January which caused me to gain weight and fat and i am disgusted with myself. I found my fitbit and I'm so ready to start this, but honestly I have NO idea where to start. I am going to start going back to Zumba next week which helped me loose some weight last year before my surgery. Recently, I started a new night shift job and all i eat is fast food. Seriously, like i eat 2 meals a day and both meals are fast food. I want to start eating healthier and getting toned. I need all the help I can get!

It sounds like you need a rocking support group to keep you engaged and pushing forward. I run one through Facebook if you'd be interested in that. Also, get rid of that fast food for now. Learn how to plan and prepare your own meals so you can know what you getting and get much better nutrition. Exercise is important too. You should find something that you can do 5-6 days/week to make great progress. I'm always happy to help, so hit me up with your questions.0

Weight loss starts with a caloric deficit, so start right there. Exercise is for health and helps with the deficit.0

Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the calories necessary to maintain your current weight. If you eat at a reasonable deficit from that, you will lose weight. (But you still need to log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Logging works.)

not true in the least. Limiting carbs is just one of many ways to limit calories, plain and simple.0 -

No. You lose weight by eating fewer calories than you burn—period. Have you read the Sexypants post? So much good "MFP 101" information: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/1080242/a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-sexypants/p1danabpennington wrote: »Thanks everyone!! Negative calorie adjustments happen whenever you burn fewer calories than your MFP activity level. Enable them: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings0
