HI!
how do you guys keep a regular schedule up?
I am full force for some days/weeks to exercise and then find excuses and lack motivation.. is this normal?
Do you organize your day(s) in a time planner?
How do you handle booked out days?
Ideas?

My health is a priority so I make time for it. Sometimes life/work gets in the way and things need to get moved around but where possible I try and stick to a weekly routine.0

10 minutes kettle bell workout, or a few hundred jumping jacks/jump ropes can be fitted into every day, I have found As long as I do something every day, it's so much easier to work out the day after.0

I shower and do my hair and make up at the gym after I work out. If I don't get my *kitten* out of bed and to the gym, it means I show up to work looking like crap and I can't have that.
Plus, traffic at 5:30AM is non-existent. Traffic at 7:30AM means that if I want to make it to work on time, I have to leave the house at 7:15AM, get up at 6:30AM. I might as well drag myself out of bed an hour earlier, work out my frustrations at the gym before I know what I'm doing and then be set for the rest of the day.
Plus, I have to work out. If I do it in the morning, I make sure my evenings are free to get to my various commitments in the evening or afford me hang out time with my boy or video game time. Otherwise, I have to do my workout after work, which makes it so much harder to do for me.

Mornings are best for me since I can get exercise in before excuses and crunch time sets in. It is also cooler in the summer when exercising outside. There are also free phone APPS that have various plans and will buzz to remind you that you have an activity planned.0

what i did was I stopped looking at exercise as this other "extra" thing and started looking at it as something just as important as any other commitment I've made...just as important as going to work...just as important as picking my kids up from camp/daycare...just as important as showering every day, etc.
It is important to note that you don't have to exercise every single day and in fact, you should have regular rest incorporated into your fitness regimen. It is also important to note that you should find something you enjoy doing as exercise...many people have a very narrow view of exercise and they think they need to drone away for hours and hours on some cardio machine or jump around their living room to some DVD. You won't always be motivated, but at least if you are doing something you for the most part enjoy doing, it's not going to be torture.
Find something you like doing...do it 3-5 times per week for 30-60 minutes....winning.

I just do most of it in the morning, besides classes I've committed to teach or attend.
if I don't do it in the morning, I find excuses not to do it the rest of the day0 -
Working out is not scheduled, it's a part of my routine, like eating 3 meals a day. And like 3 meals a day, I adjust the times as needed. If you view working as optional, it won't be a priority.0

I have the benefit or living and working close to my gym. I can get out, head over, get my workout in, and get home, all in about the time it would take to fight thru rush hour traffic and get to the suburbs.
I look at my exercise time like an investment. Every hour I spend now gives me 1 more day of good health at the end, when I can enjoy it.
OFC, that wont help you. In the end, you have to find what works for you, that you like, and can stick with. That includes finding your own motivation. I will tell you that sticking to a routine will help. After a while it becomes second nature, like grocery shopping on Thurs nights, or running errands on Sat.0 -
I use exercise DVDs. Some of them have targeted workouts broken down into 10-15 minute segments which are incredibly easy to fit in. Plus you can do them in the comfort of your own home. It may only be 10 minutes, but I figure it's 10 minutes I wouldn't have gotten at all otherwise.0

Like another member has said, it becomes part of your routine. I have worked in my gym time before work everyday (during the week) - and now it's second nature. Yes, there are definitely days when I am full force and pumped for my workouts... others when I definitely feel the lack of motivation. It's up to you to dig deep and find what initially prompted you to seek change. Think about "why" you are doing it in the first place. Think about your goal. Every day counts, every workout, everything you log. It's OK to have down days, but don't give up and keep moving forward. A workout is a workout - getting even a few minutes in when you're stressed on time is better than nothing. Just don't let up on tracking what you consume0

6 days a week, before work. Otherwise something messes with my schedule - lunchtime workouts sometimes don't happen, ditto with after-work workouts too.
Doing this for 12 years now!0 -
I schedule it right after work so I go straight from work to a class or training session. That way I don't get a chance to go home and change my mind.0

First thing in the morning before I get ready to start the day. Just becomes routine0

If I can find time to watch my favorite TV shows/sports team then I have time to work out. Early mornings are best for me, or after I put my kids to bed at 8:30pm. I work FT, single mom to 3 kids 5 and under and I still find the time. Being within my calories and being encouraged by my friends here help me too.0
