I've been looking for low cal alternatives to normal food.
Not like 'swap chips for apple slices' but 'swap whole milk for almond milk' type suggestions.
Anyone have good tricks or foods you've found?
So far for me
Almond milk for regular milk
Zoodles (zuccini noodles) for pasta noodles
And pb2 for peanut butter (just found it today

Try shredded cabbage instead of rice in a stir fry.

You can do turkey bacon, or try center cut bacon instead of regular bacon. I personally like center cut bacon, which is only slightly less in calories, but about 1/2 the fat and slightly more protein.

Baking in most recipes: Imperial margarine for butter
Lowest cal spread: Country Crock Light (also fortified with calcium and vtit D).
    In some baking: Stevia.

Haven't figured out candy-making yet. LOL.

I haven't tried shredded cabbage but shredded cauliflower is good. I use it as a fried rice substitute.

I typically don't like low calorie "equivalents" of food that are a different food entirely, but I like to add those "equivalents" to the real thing for volume. For instance, cauliflower mush will never be as good as mashed potatoes. However, mixing half real potatoes and half cauliflower doubles the volume for very few calories/carbs while retaining the potato flavor/texture. Same with zucchini noodles - I'll only use them along with real noodles for volume. I'm all about that volume, baby.
