  • i would consider it underwear only cause most of them are very thin material anyway.. i wear them under a lot of my dress tops for work but i never wear them by themselves unless im home then i will

There is such a prevalence of them in the stores, I have trouble believing that it is meant to be worn only as underwear.

Also, say you are wearing a lacy cami under a jacket. It is summer, 90+ degree heat. By the time you walk to the office, if you are wearing said jacket, you will sweat it through. So if I walk on the street in my cami and skirt and put on the jacket in the office, I'm being indecent? If said cami does cover the bra straps, does it make a difference?

For me it depends on the matrial used for the cami. I've bout camisols from Old Navy that were basically just tank tops and I would where it with a vest or jacket or something. but if it's the same material as something I would wear as a slip under a dress then I wouldn't wear it by itself.

So I say it's a judgment call based upon material and coverage.

If you're wearing a bra underneath, I think it can be a top. That'd be my guideline anyway. As for others, they can wear or not wear whatever they want. Unless it looks absolutely absurd then I don't pay much attention or give it much thought.
