Easy, portable healthy foods

Hi All,

In the summer we spend most of our weekends (and soon ten days straight) at our camper by the beach. We are always on the go...pool, beach, etc. and while I still log and stay within my calorie range, I find it difficult to stay with in my macro goals...mostly because I am unprepared with my own stash of healthy, easily carried around, convenient food choices. I try to do my best when eating out with the family (think boardwalk food, fast food, middle of the road restaraunts, so its a challenge) but I really feel if I have snacked ahead of the family meals with my own stash I would be happy with a drink and a salad or a side or a very small something or other with them. Hope that makes even a little sense.

Looking for suggestions of things to carry with me...high protein/fiber, lower on the sodium and carbs. I can only eat so many fruits and veggies and hard boiled eggs so that gets old quickly. We go again this friday so I am hoping to plan much better this time and prepare/pack ahead of time to have a goody bag/cooler of things nearby all weekend.

On the plus side, I have found that the dirt path around our campground makes a great trail for running/walking each morning so I am able to keep up with the exercise (and am getting to know our guards at the entrance as I see these pleasant older gentlemen several times as I make my laps lol ;) )

  • I still find apples really help to suppress and satisfy my hunger. I eat them in quarters. So if you can cut the apple up in 4's and ziploc them. Mind you, I know you said no fruits. But it really helps with energy! Small mandarin's work wonders for me as well. I am not very good with portable processed food but perhaps you could make some shredded carrots salad with tuna in small tupperware? Just some suggestions :) These are my favourite go to's. Maybe even beefless-beef strips from Trader Joe's ready in small tupperware. It's like a protein snack!
