Every once in a while vanity kicks in, and I get anxious that I'm not going to like the way my body looks when I'm more fit. I suppose it's mostly a fear of losing the curves I like (and a little fear that I won't slim down where I'd like). I'm pretty good at shutting down those thoughts because I know they're trivial. I was just wondering if anyone else feels the same way.

You can always put the weight back on if you end up liking that look better.0
-
It's not like you're going to wake up one day with a radically changed body. If you begin disliking the way that you look, you will see it happening and you can address it.0
-
This is the least of your worries (that being said, I liked myself a lot better when I put on about 15 lbs of muscle after I lost all my weight).0
-
Not me. Because I know that wherever I ended up, I'll look better than I do now and even better than I did when I started. That, and everyone has flaws. I'm okay with the stretch marks and loose skin. It's annoying, sure. But it's a reminder too of what I let myself get to, and a reminder to never go back.0

I feel like this quite often. But then I remember how I looked before I lost some of the weight and I think I prefer the way it is now. Yeah, I might end up looking a bit "droopy" and having loose skin. I may opt for corrective surgery for that in the future. The only two people who have to worry about that though are me and my bf.
As far as curves go, I'm looking forward to building up the ones my fat has been hiding! (Namely, the butt) I want to do soooo many squats when I get down to goal. I've been doing some now, but I'm trying to save the knees for when I can do them regularly.
Otherwise, I'm rockin' my new wardrobe and no one else can tell.0 -
Sure, I'm worried that as I lose weight my fibroid will be more noticeable and that I'll look pregnant. But I keep reminding myself that being overweight is a risk factor for fibroids and that it will likely shrink as I do.0

I do worry a little about that, sure. I think it is a normal worry. The important thing is to be healthy and then adjust accordingly. So if you like to be at the top end of the BMI because you like the softness, I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with that.0

This is so true. The changes are going to happen gradually. If you start to dislike the way you look either stop losing weight or start weight lifting.0 -
I think a lot of people have vanity goals as well.0

I have a friend who is a very tiny marathon-runner. She had a fibroid removed a few years ago that was the size of a grapefruit. You never would've known.0 -

Thanks! I tell myself these things too. I think maybe the anxiety is more about how I'll look along the way to where I want to be. I hear stomach fat is the most stubborn, and of course that's what I'd most like to lose!ManiacalLaugh wrote: »I want to do soooo many squats when I get down to goal. I love squats! Well sometimes I hate them, but I love that I can do them. Good luck getting there!

Thanks! That's my fibroid's size too.

This.
I had lots to lose, so that was not an issue at first (and besides I'd been the weight I was aiming for not that terribly long before and liked the way I looked), but I also always figured I was going for a look more than a weight, so would stop if I got there before I expected.
I'm currently excited about trying to build some muscle.0 -
I got to a point where I looked sick/anorexic even though I wasn't. I had just lost all of the weight first and then began to build up muscle. It's a game of tearing it down and building it up to desired results and the game never ends. I still look extremely thin but I've manged to build a lot of muscle. I love the looks I get and I like the way my body looks..

I sometimes wonder about my breasts size, lol ,cos i don't want them to go away massively, then I remember they have been kinda the same size through my past 47 kgs to the recent 58 ( was 75kg and they did get bigger xD )
but that shouldn't be a problem if the BF% doesn't go too low..I dunno,i don't want or have the will to maintain a six pack, just want a nice overall body and i think im doing fine plus well, you can always hit a point you like and then just maintain it.0 -

I went through this during the first half of my weight loss. I wanted to lose 15 kg, but didn't mind the way I looked too much.
Then I started losing weight and at first, I didn't notice any changes at all.
When I hit about 8 kg lost I started to notice slight changes ... and didn't like them at all!! I sagged!! Everything just seemed to look like a slightly deflated balloon.
By 10 kg lost ... and then 12 kg lost ... it just got worse and worse! I was noticing that I had lost some weight, and when I packed my newly saggy self into tighter clothes, I thought I looked better ... but I wasn't at all impressed with the unclothed me.
I lost the 15 kg about a month ago, and went on holiday, still feeling very saggy. While I was on holiday, I went off the diet, but exercised like crazy. I have gained 1 kg back, which I'll lose again shortly, but now I seem to have firmed up and I'm liking what I see better.
So there can be ups and downs in the process.
And today was definitely an up when I tried on an armload of dresses and ruled out a bunch because they were too big! Then I bought two new dresses which I think look really good ... I think they show off the smaller me nicely.

If it's any consolation: Your body type always stays the same.
What I mean is: Some women are pear-shaped (like me), some are shaped like apples and I'm not sure if there's a third shape but what I'm trying to say is: no matter your weight, you will always have that body shape.
So unless you're extremely underweight you will have your amazing curves at a lower weight as well.0 -

I was thrilled to see less fat, but after 80 pounds of "Well, I see some loss, but not like other people do..." I suddenly see it, so it's like it happened overnight. Bones, curves, , thinning arms, fingers, defined face, can't bulge my knees if I try...everything is beginning to look normal instead of fat and it just kind of seems wrong.
Not bad, just like it's not how I'm supposed to look.
I'm not sorry, but it's all a little...sort of disconcerting. I don't know how I'm going to react to thin as it arrives.
Better than a big, fat blob, though. Don't quit!0 -
no, you're the only one that ever gets vain during this weight loss thing.0

Of course I'm not I just wanted to hear from anyone else who sometimes feels vain in this particular way.0 -
For the most part I have been pleased with the changes I've seen in the mirror. And I am thrilled to be nearing a healthy weight. Still, there are times when I worry that, as the weight loss continues, I'll develop loose or sagging skin. Is that vanity rearing its ugly head? Sure, but I think it's normal to have such thoughts from time-to-time.
We're losing weight, the bodies we see in the mirror each morning are changing. It's normal to have mixed feelings about that and worries about whether or not we'll like the way we look at a healthinr weight.0 -

Does that mean it's impossible to rid of the belly with the fibroid? I have 3 of the things0 -

This is the same for me too0 -
I think about it sometimes. But it doesn't really bother me because I can work on my body. My butt is getting a bit flat...but I'm going to continue to cut, because then one day I can bulk and build the butt of my dreams!
And yes, I'm a bit vain. But it doesn't control my life. I just have fun working on my body.0
