At what stage in your lift progress and development did you decide to purchase a weightlifting belt and what prompted it?

I went by how my body and back felt with heavier weight. Don't think a belt will prevent injury from improper form. Make sure your form is perfect before getting into heavy weight and don't wear the belt on lighter weight (to help you keep developing stability muscles) unless you have back problems etc

I got mine when I started to feel like I couldn't focus to keep my core tight and braced and focus on the rest of my form at the same time.

In the gym I tend to wear it quite loose - it's more there as a reminder to properly brace my core rather then actually helping. I also don't put it on until I'm at around 75% of my max.

I got mine when I started power lifting and started training in the 1-3 max rep range. I put it on only when i reach about 50% max on the bench, squat and DL lifts. I don't wear it for any other exercises.
