Eating right

why is so hard to eat the right foods. I will do it for a good week maybe 2 then it's like I stop

    Might be helpful to stop thinking about "right" and "wrong" foods. It can be overly constraining and it's not necessary.

    Just eat what you normally eat ....but just eat smaller portions so that you can stay at your calorie goal.

    Don't eat foods that you don't like or enjoy. You have to make this work for you in a manner that makes you be consistent. So many folk over complicate things for themselves. For example. No one has to eat chicken, brown rice and an abundance of vegetables if they don't like it or want it. It's all about choices and being sensible. Substitute some things with others and make it fit your calorie requirements.

    Well, I have some good news: there are no "right" or "wrong" foods. All food is just energy.

    If you can't stick with what you're doing for a week or 2, you'll never be able to stick with it for life. The best thing you can do is to figure out a way you can eat for the long term and follow that.

    Put your stats into MFP, set your weight loss/week amount, then eat the calorie goal it gives you. You can eat pretty much whatever you want, taking into consideration that you want to hit your macro (protein, fat, and carbs) goals. This is called "If It Fits Your Macros." With this way of eating, there is no right or wrong foods, just food.

    I think it comes down to making a commitment of selecting to fill you diet with the foods that you have deemed that are "right" for you. IMO you don't have to entirely give up the foods that you feel are "wrong" for you. Just limit them and enjoy occasionally.

    There truly are no "right" or "wrong" foods...just foods that each of us feels gives us a means to reach our goals.

    Part of that goal...at least for me...is enjoying the foods that I eat along with improving my health.

    If you reframe your food choices as better most of the time, you can be more successful.

    I mean, how realistic is it to give up say, French fries for the rest of your life? If you try to, you might just treat your next ten trips to McDonalds as your Last Meal.
