I have never used a belt. But I use glove with a fat wrist wrap. I really comes down to what is comfortable for you and your budget.
    I use a Gold's Gym gloves I bought at Walmart :)
I have to admit I had to stifle a chuckle when I guy walked into the weight room with back belt on backwards, using is more as a belly retainer :)

One additional point. I found I have to use straps form some lifts as my leg and core strength exceeds my grip strength. I can RDL with 2 90# dumbells with straps but only 45# without the straps.

I've worn my belt backwards- but it's a 4" to a front taper- but I need a wider front brace than narrow.

I wouldn't wear a belt unless you feel like you're unstable and struggling with bracing. It's not a crutch.

Gloves- I would also avoid them- they aren't necessary. But any pair that makes you happy if you feel them.

I've been using Harbinger 1250 Training Grip WristWrap and extremely satisfied with them:
