If you want it bad enough take a few minutes out of your day and log your food. Make conscious decisions on your vacation. It's only hard if you think it is going to be hard.

I do a lot of guessing on vacation, but I've managed to maintain my weight for the past three years worth of vacations. Here's what I do: I continue to log everything, even though many entries are estimates. I guess high. I try to have some food on hand at hotel, condo, friend's homes (wherever my destination is). I generally have: baggies of pre-weighed cereal for snacks, pre-weighed amounts of peanuts, walnuts, or almonds. These are both great to stick in my purse for sudden hunger while out and about. And prevents me from making poor choices (ie. street food). If I have access to refrigerator, I find a grocery store and get yogurt, string cheese, grapes, maybe thin sliced deli meats. I prefer (depending on my travel companions) to eat my main meal at lunch. It's cheaper for one thing. Then I get a box with the meal and put half in it before I spread the rest out on my plate. Then I can take the rest with me for an appetizing meal later. I look for opportunities to walk more while on vacation so I have a little calorie wiggle room, but I don't try to kill myself doing formal exercise. I always make room for ice cream and wine. Hope that helps.
