Cutting Things Out

I've been considering cutting out sugar/gluten/possibly dairy. Have any of you done this, and what kind of results have you seen?

Why? Unless you have a diagnosed medical condition, there is no reason to cut anything out.0

I've read that some people have experienced a decrease in bloating when cutting out dairy and gluten even without any intolerance. As far as sugar, I feel like cutting it out might help with my cico. Also, while weight loss is about cico, health isn't. I could eat nothing but 1200 calories of cookies a day and lose weight, but I wouldn't be healthy.0

Also, I get yeast infections at least once a year and I've read that cutting out sugar can help prevent them.0

Cutting back on sugar might help with cico and get you to eat more healthily, but many healthy foods contain gluten or dairy.0 -

Nope, just bro science. Also, I get yeast infections at least once a year and I've read that cutting out sugar can help prevent them.
Not exactly. Probiotics can help more than nothing else.0 -

No one will disagree with that, but cuts are often less sustainable than moderation. Your call ultimately, but make sure you can still fuel your body appropriately without those things.0 -
And by disagree with THAT, I meant the last sentence. I'm not sure about the rest.0

It's not a good thing to demonize certain foods or food groups, as they have nothing at all to do with weight management.
The way to lose weight is to eat less calories than you burn, but which foods you choose to eat are up to you.
Personally, I eat everything in moderation, except foods I am intolerant to or that I don't like.0 -

Instead of cutting out, why not moderate so that you meet both calorie and nutritional needs?0 -
I gained weight when I cut out grains, and dairy.0

God everyone here doesn't do as well on some doets as others do. I cut out a lot of sugars, dairy, and gluten and I feel awesome and I'm losing pretty well. First thing I noticed was the drop in water weight which is awesome.
Cutting things is sustainable for some people BTW. Some people need structure like that while others can stay on track even when their food is less restrictive.0 -
Cutting dairy is hard to do personally. I still eat butter, heavy cream, and some cheese occasionally.
I also don't have as intense of an appetite.0 -
If you're having issues with bloating check your sodium levels before you go crazy cutting out a million different things. I don't do well with sodium much over the daily recommended max (2,300mg). I went crazy on Papa Murhpy's pizza tonight (5 slices) and my sodium is like 3 times higher than what I normally eat at. I'll be beating off the water weight for a week. If I can button my shorts tomorrow I'll call it a good day. o_O0

While I do take probiotics myself, I must point out that A diet that supports the immune system and is not high in simple carbohydrates contributes to a healthy balance of the oral and intestinal flora....For women who experience recurrent yeast infections, there is limited evidence that oral or intravaginal probiotics help to prevent future infections.[9][50] This includes either as pills or as yogurt.0 -

I'm ususally under on sodium, actually. I was kind of surprised because I feel like I eat a lot of salty things.
As for the majority of the rest of these replies: I feel like all of you are so focused on losing weight that healthy isn't really a factor. I understand CICO, however I am not just trying to lose weight, I'm trying to be healthy and feel good, not just look good.0 -

Right, but cutting out foods does not necessarily create a healthy diet. A healthy diet is balance and moderation.0
