Wow...yeah, that's definitely something you want to do as a last resort.
Well, you work with the resources and support systems you have at hand, right now (that would be MFP and members, of course!) and go about setting realistic goals...ones that you know you will EXCEED. This gives you leeway for inadvertent slips in diet, initial pity parties and the time it takes you to settle on an exercise schedule you will keep.
That may sound a little self defeating, but let's face it...getting started and sticking with a program can be daunting! Treat yourself kindly, yet firmly...and don't take 'No' for an answer, even from yourself!
You'll do just fine!0 -
Agree with above, a last resort.
Have you ever really (I mean REALLY) had a good try at losing weight yourself? If you are anything like me, you have tried everything under the sun. What is really working for me this time around is that I have been honest with myself, I am strictly logging calories in and calories out and the weight is starting to move.
I work with a lady who has just had gastric bypass done. She is miserable. The weight came off for her fairly fast, and now it is slowing down. It is noticeable that her habits haven't changed, so yes, she has a smaller stomach and can't physically eat as much but it doesn't stop her from still eating 2 pieces of cake during the day - it's just in 6 small portions now.
If you need it, and you have genuinely tried everything else, and you have other healthy issues then it's probably a good option for you. If you are not in the right head space, for either losing weight by using tools like MFP and moving a bit more or for gastric bypass - then the hard truth is that neither will work.
MFP is great. Lots of support on here and you can really use it to keep track of what you eat as well as what you burn. Add me as a friend!! Happy to support you0
