Help needed for business dinner!

Hello,

I usually cook at home and count my calories.

On Sunday, however, I'm going to a business dinner with a potential client. We're going to some fancy steak house in Birmingham. I'm planning on enjoying myself and think I would like most of the things on the menu, but I also want to opt for something healthy in terms of fat and calories.

Please can you have a look at the menu for me and help me out?
You can find it on the restaurant website mpwsteakhousebirmingham.co.uk or here.

I don't think I would go for steak, it's ridiculously expensive so the swordfish sounds great (Grilled 8oz swordfish steak à la Provençal, buttered new potatoes, sauce vierge with fresh basil) but I'm happy for suggestions. How could I amend the meal to avoid hidden fat and calorie traps?

Thanks in advance :)

That shrimp with ginger and mango sounds freaking incredible.

It's only one meal, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Maybe try to stay away from the bread basket and opt for a side salad (with dressing on the side) instead of the buttered potatoes or whatever comes with what you choose. Sounds like a tasty meal.

Earlier in the day just try to only eat protein or just one normal meal. This way you have the majority of your daily calories left for this one meal.

I'd go with the Tuna or Shrimp. Oh my that made me hungry. Enjoy!

Before you do this, call ahead to see if they can accommodate you. You don't want to look picky and prudish in front of your new client.

Get what you want. If the portions are huge (which they usually are) just eat half and take half home. As long as you don't draw attention to it, no one will notice. I'd eat pretty much anything on that menu.

Many thanks for you help guys :) I really feel like fish (we're having steak at home once a month or so, but grilled fish not so much) so I think I'll go with the grilled swordfish steak with a rocket & parmesan salad instead of buttered potatoes, at least that way it's low carb :)
