When do you face the scale?

Just out of curiosity, how often do you weigh yourself? Once a week? Once every two? Do you avoid the scale? Do you like what it has to say to you? Or do you hate the thing? I'd love to hear what you all do and how you measure your progress.

Every morning.
There is a very large thread about this at the top of the forum right now: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10204800/how-often-does-everyone-get-weighed/p10 -
I weigh after using the bathroom every single morning. I log it in my phone app to see my trend and go about my day. The number on the scale use to control and determine my mood for the day, and would just stress me out. Thankfully I have learned that weight loss isnt linear and that the weight will fluctuate from day to day. And when the scale didnt move, which happened in March, I compared my measurement from the previous month, to see if I lost inches. So regardless what the number on the scale is I only rely I my trend and as long as its on a downward spiral I will continue to do what I'm doing.0

Yeah, check that thread from yesterday.
Short answer, Sun morning fresh out of bed, at the gym, before my workout.

Only time I record it is Friday morning. I do check at other times throughout the week.0

Every 2 weeks...Friday or Saturday morning.
I'm maintaining , so feel i don't need to weigh myself too often.0 -
*shrug* Whenever the urge strikes me. Can be any time, any day of the week. I've come to accept what the scale shows me is simply a number. If it's a smaller one than before, great. If it isn't, that's okay too. My clothing fits better, my overall health is vastly improved, those are more important to me than a number (though I'll be excited when that number starts with a 1)0

I weigh myself once a week in the morning after using the bathroom. I only avoid it during my period since I know I'll be heavier anyways.0

each day after my run0

Usually Friday mornings. Sometimes how clothes fit trumps the number though - and also how I feel. So the scale *can* disappoint, but I'm learning (like most things, slowly) not to take it too gravely seriously.
I'm about 2 pounds from goal weight, so we're talking slow weight loss here. (Also over age 50 )0 -

Naked, before eating/drinking anything, and after going to the bathroom!

whenever i feel like it. i dont consider it "facing" anymore, its just some estimated numbers that i can use to make decisions and track trends.0

i dont like using the scale and try to avoid it. Having said that i do use it here and there to be more accurate about where im at body fat wise. If i feel that ive gained a little weight because i can tell in the mirror or can feel a little more body fat from the pinch test i will weigh to get a more accurate idea of where im at and how much i need to lose. If i am losing once i get to the level of lean that i see i like and feel via pinching i use the scale to confirm im at the level of lean i want to be. I Weighing first thing in the morning after going to the bathroom give me the most accurate weight numbers.0

I probably weigh myself too often. I just like to see the fluctuations during the day and don't worry if there is a 1-5lb difference. I only record my low weights and as long as I stay within a "range" trending downward I'm happy.0
-
I do it every morning after the whiz ritual. I like seeing the squiggly line on my chart when I log every day.0
-
I agree with a few others here. I weigh in the morning before eating and showering, and after using the bathroom. Usually, it's everyday. I know that's not recommended, but I don't dwell on small differences because I know that things we eat can linger, or if I eat too much salt, I have water weight. I like seeing the tracking on my graph - I like to see it go down as it really is, not as a shelf that swoops down one day. I also know that strength training causes muscle gain, so I like to take photos for real progress.0

Every day. It's just data to me. I like seeing the daily information on my chart.0
-
Once every couple of weeks. I've found it doesn't really make me feel great because at my healthiest and fittest I was 145 and I my fattest and unhappiest I was 125. It's just a number to me, I like judging how I feel in my own clothing vs a scale that can't tell me fat percentage.0

Every day, in the AM, naked, after going to the bathroom.
I record a new low in MFP after I have seen it on the scale for a few days and consider this my official weight. I record the daily weight in a spreadsheet so I can make a graph and remind myself that weight loss is not linear.0 -
Every Saturday morning. It's the only day I get to sleep in, and can wake up peacefully without a small child or two pestering me So I'm extra fasted, after the bathroom, and naked. Always naked. I don't have time to get naked and weigh myself, just to rush to get dressed again the rest of the week0
-
Every morning. I log the result and I look at the trend over a week or two instead of focusing on one day's reading.
And I don't "face the scale" as if it's a form of judgement....it's a tool and I use it to better understand if the effort I make is working or not.0 -
I weigh daily...it's just a tool and just one of many in my tool box...I range anywhere from 179 - 183...that's how I know I'm maintaining. Other than that, I don't give it much thought.0
-
Maybe once every 1-2 weeks. Just need to check and make sure I'm either maintaining or gaining slowly. Can't lose a single precious pound!0
-
First thing in the morning, I weigh myself every day but I only care about the trend over time.
As part of my ritual, it helps me stay focused. It's easier to remember to do it everyday than just once per week.
I understand some people get frustrated when checking their weight daily but isn't it better to learn that weight fluctuates than continue to fear the scale. Even once a week the number can be misleading.0
