Free food

On the weight watchers diet there was a list of " free food". Things you can eat without any points. Does this diet have any of those ?

    No, everything has calories and everything should be counted. Weight Watchers is a dumbed down version of calorie counting.

    No, the lowest default minimum here (for women) will be 1200 calories (before exercise).

    Weight Watchers starts you at a lower number and assumes you will eat free foods to make up the difference.

    Most people here will log everything. It's hard to do part this & part that. I'm sure there is a Weight Watchers group on MFP that can help you.

    I log everything and don't think there anything such as a "free food".

    Hello!

    This is not a diet. There are myriad ways that people decide to spend their calories, but just find what works for you. In general, there are no "free foods" on MFP. Most people log everything to track nutrients, etc.

    Nope, different plan. Everything gets logged and you stay under a calorie goal. Lots of people weigh the food to get a more accurate estimate. There is no "eat more of this, less of that."

    Every food has calories, even the "no points" ones. I don't know why WW does that, it's misleading and confusing to those who are just learning about calories and eating well for weight loss.

    This "diet" deals with reality. The reality is that if you want real success you have to get used to the idea that you can never eat all; you want without accountability and consequences. That's why it works. ;)

    The theory is that by making fruit and vegetables 0 points, people with go for an apple rather than a cookie. It's a false economy.

    MFP isn't a diet. You can use it along with a diet if you want, but it isn't one. Anything that has calories isn't "free," because they all contribute towards your fuel intake (calories). There are "zero calorie" foods, like diet soda, black coffee, and dill pickles, but only because there aren't enough calories that they have to be declared on the label. Even if you don't count them, they still count.

    I wouldn't trust that. I was on a completely whole foods diet and I was overweight and gaining and I looked into weight watchers...the 'free' foods were actually foods I was normally eating so obviously that wasn't going to help me. Some people it might work and if so then awesome! But if you want a better understanding of weight watchers and MFP I'd look into the groups as others have suggested.

    The only free food I know of is the stuff you don't pay money for. Unfortunately that still has calories.
