Avocado substitute

Hi all,

I have an allergy or strong intolerance to avocado... it makes me REALLY sick to my stomach (think food poisoning). However, the damn fruit appears in SO MANY recipes for juices and meals. Anyone know a good substitute?

I asked Tosca Reno (Clean eating diet) and she said she's experimenting with cashew cream, but also recommended considering coconut oil. I thought I'd ask here too in case anyone else has this problem and has found a reasonable substitute.

Anyone?

Olive oil, olive tapenade, or whole olives if you're looking to replace the monounsaturated fats in avocado. Coconut oil is a saturated fat. Not necessarily bad but not the same. Extra virgin olive oil also has antioxidant benefits as well.

What aspect are you trying to replace? Nutrition? Texture? Creaminess? Color? I'd think that banana or pumpkin purée (maybe even butternut or sweet potato) would be good in smoothies to give them that texture. Wouldn't be as cream/fatty though and wouldnt have the same flavor profile. Cashews make a good cream, especially if you have a high-power blender like a Vitamix.
