thanks to all of you! and the links recommended were very helpful! hopefully i can fix my eating and still lose some in time for summer! ok so at the risk of sounding dumb i want to sum this up and make sure i understand! my bmr says 1555calories/day. but i want to follow my profile one that says 1200 cals/day right? so i want to make sure that i actually eat 1200 calories everyday and i will still lose weight? am i right so far? then since i walk mostly everyday for 45 min i will burn cals. so then i want to make sure that i eat the amount that i burnt walking? that just seems weird, but if that's what works then i am all for it! now is there a time restriction for eating? like should i have all of the cals consumed by 7:00 pm or can i still eat at like 8 or 9 pm? that's part of my problem i eat later at night because the kids are in bed and hubby is at work! and one more question is there anywhere on here that lists good foods/ bad foods? cause i don't want to be eating all bad!! thanks to all of you for your help! :flowerforyou:

That sounds like you have it pretty much right wags. On the eating time, there is no evidence out there that eating later will be any different for you. There are some posts already up on here about that, but I don't have the time (at work) to search for them. the reason why a lot of people have trouble with eating late at night is because they "mindlessly" snack, not realizing how much they are eating, and THAT is definitely an issue that will affect weight loss.

One thing to remember though, depending on how much you have to lose (If your BMI is in the healthy or just a little overweight range) 2 lbs a week loss may not work for you. It's an aggressive amount of weight, usually fine for people who are obese but tends to become more difficult as you approach your healthy weight. I don' t know if that is what you set it for, but being 300 plus calories below your BMR that's what it sounds like (course I could be completely wrong on that). Just something to be aware of.

    Best of luck to you.

Correct on eating all your calories and no don't worry about eating late as long as you are within your calories you will be ok. And I don't think there is a good/bad food section. good luck in your wait loss:flowerforyou:

Labeling foods as good or bad generally just makes us want the bad foods more  Try to eat more of the healthier options - poultry, fish, veggies, fruits, nuts, etc., and less of the maybe not so healthy options - higher fat foods, pastries, fried foods, high calorie salad dressings, etc. You have to come up with what you can live with for the rest of your life, because this is a lifestyle change, not a diet. So, If you can't possibly imagine living without chocolate, work some into your plan. There have been good posts about how to do that. Or whatever it is. If 1 day this month you completely blow it and eat like 2500 calories and have a bunch of high fat, fried stuff (or whatever) chalk it up to a day off and enjoy it and the next day go right back to your plan. In the course of your life, you will have days when you just ignore the rules - it's not the occassional day that is the problem. It's the several in a row for a long time - like months and years - that is the problem!!

Ok, ok. I'm done now. For now  Keep up the good work - you will make it. I know you will!!

I don't have to label fried dough anything, I know I want it badly no matter what I label it. Mmmmm fried dough (in my best homer simpson voice) :ohwell:

Ironically, if I eat 2500 calories I'm 200 below maintenance.

Sorry MG just having a little fun with you.

thank you, you are all so helpful!:flowerforyou: actually i chose the 2 lbs a week because according to my bmi i am just into the obese catagory:angry: i don't even like the sound of that. so i thought i could start out losing more then go to less. is that possible? apparently i messed myself up anyway because for the past week i have been under my cals. so is it going to take me ling to see progress now?

Yes, it is possible, but with that kind of loss it won't be for too long  . Don't worry, you can always tweak things as your body changes (and don't worry about the obese thing, I was too for a while, then I started here!). check this post out, it may help you out as you go through some of the stages.
