Breastfeeding on 1800 cals...no weight loss

I'm currently breastfeeding my 4 mo old and trying to lose a stubborn 10 lbs at the same time. I started a 1800 cal diet a week ago but my weight hasn't budged at all : ( I seriously thought it would just fall off! I've been maintaining my weight all while gorging since I started breastfeeding. Does anyone have any experience in this area that could give me some tips? Much appreciated!

I don't have any experience in breast feeding. But, if you answer these questions I might be able to help.
- Are you weighing your food with an electric scale?
- Are you weighing your food accurately? i.e. using grams instead of cups
- How are you obtaining your calorie burns? MFP, HRM or machines?

It's only been a week maybe you need more time. Im breastfeeding too and I'm actually on a 1290 cal diet. I also eat back all my exercise calories. I've lost 12 pounds in the past 2 months. I also have more weight to lose than you though. I haven't seen any difference in my milk supply either.0

I am weighing and measuring my food... Even if I was a off a few hundred calories, I would think I'd drop something since I was eating around 3,000 calories a day in the prior weeks since giving birth! It doesn't make sense that I maintained my weight eating that many calories and yet I didn't loose on a 1800 cal while breastfeeding0

Breastfeeding adds a whole other dimension to weight loss. Lots of women will tell you those last 10 pounds don't want to come off until you wean and then they come off fast. Other women can eat anything and everything and lose it all plus some. The hormonal side that regulates breastfeeding makes it very individual to each women. Personally I wouldn't want to go any lower than 1,800 while exclusively breastfeeding. Obviously that number goes down as they eat less as they wean on to solids etc. It's frustrating, but hanging onto those last few pounds until you wean is worth all the other health benefits to you and your baby. Keep doing what your doing and hopefully you will see a slow downward trend, but if you don't know you're not alone and many women can relate.0

personally I don't think you should eat that little of food while breastfeeding, it can affect your milk and also your supply from what I've read. (I've also seen my sister-in-law have issues like that) Your body wants you to hold onto weight, not lose it because it helps ensure you and baby will be well. I don't think you need to worry about 10 pounds, just my opinion.
Side note, thank you for breastfeeding your child, I know that sounds weird but I applaud those who do it. Such great benefits for your child.0 -
Thanks all! I really just want to be able to wear most of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe... I'm not in any rush...Just thought I could take advantage of this opportunity to loose the weight easily (or so I thought)0

As long as you are eat enough protien...you will be fine. Check out diary of a fit mommy on facebook or Google it for her blog. She talks about clean eatting while breastfeeding.
Keep in mind that if its those last 10 vanity pounds...it might now come off until have you weaned. I am not suggesting weaning however because breastfeeding is healthy for both you and your baby! Keep in mind your breasts weight more and it can take 6 months for your utero to shrink.0
