Conceiving and Calories

Currently I am 152 (5'6.5 inches tall) and I eat 1350 calories/day while exercising 525 calories 5 days/week. I do not currently eat back my exercise calories.

My question is, how many calories did you ladies eat while trying to conceive? I will more than likely touch base with my doctor, but I wanted to gauge what worked well for others.

Thanks!

I'd say find your maintenance and eat just a bit past that... If you are going to be pregnant, won't it be dangerous to continue trying to lose weight? o-o; [My family has severe issues with pregnancies, so I'm not 100% on how it works, we gotta be careful and eat a loooot.. No babies for me]

Absolutely! I do not plan on trying to lose weight when pregnant, so I will definitely be maintaining plus some. I'm just curious about the "trying to conceive" part of the pregnancy

Aaaah, okay. I'm no help here, then, as my plan is to be forever baby-free. Good luck!

You are netting 825 calories, that's far too low for anyone. I'm confused are you 152 cm tall or 5'6? I'm 163 cm tall and that's about 5'4. I really think the calorie intake to get pregnant is different for everyone, but you need to be healthy and have your period first of all.

Eating at a deficit will definitely affect fertility, though not necessarily to the extent it would normally stop it.
Some studies have shown being overweight actually is associated with higher fertility.

Unless your already over weight, just eat at maintenance and consult a physician. . Severe deficit can/will impact you but you don't need to be trying to eat extra if you are currently in a healthy weight range. No need to get fat while you're trying to get your nookie on.

I plan on eating at maintenance when we start trying. Your body will need the calories, and often people are pregnant without knowing it for a few weeks, so it's best to not try to lose weight now.
