23 female. Weighing in at 225 pounds. I want to start lifting weights. Is this a good idea? Also I have no idea where to even begin with a program. Bodybuilding.com is very confusing to me. I've heard good things about blahas ice cream fitness but is it really good for someone who has never lifted weights? I also want to do cardio. So what program will allow me to do that afterward. Thank you for any help.

I have not started tracking yet and I already have a food scale. I know a caloric deficit is most important but this does not answer my question about resistance training.0

Look up Stronglifts 5x5 or New Rules of Lifting for Women. Ice Cream Fitness, I believe, is an extension of Stronglifts with some accessory lifts, so you may want to get the core five (squats/bench press/OHP/deadlift/row) down first.0

As malibu mentioned, a progressive lift program like SL 5x5 is a great place to start. Sooner, rather than later.0

Ah I see. Seems way simpler. Can I add in things like ab work or should I leave it as is. How long do I do this for? and can I add cardio?0
