Love your story of triumph and success. I can only wish you so much more

Your original thread really had me thinking. I do a lot of exercise but actually came through with a ton of respect for the non-exercisers, which I never would have imagined were so many (just considering the sheer number that responded to your post and told their stories while it was up). Basically if you're ever going to be thin, especially if you're short, at some point you'll likely need to eat fewer calories than say, 2500 per day. A lot of us when we first start out, either due to our size of exercise/activity level can eat lots of calories, and then gradually eat less as we get smaller. I do like this approach because no one really weighs a lot without consuming a lot of calories, and it gives time during the process to gradually understand lower calorie meals and get used to eating with a lesser calorie "budget".

On the other hand, starting right at a level that at the very minimum, adds no exercise calorie activity means one of two things to me, possibly both: it's almost like going cold turkey, and being successful at it! And 2) when the time comes when you're smaller, there's no further adjustment to be made, because it's already done and you have lots of practice doing it. Now of course if you're white knuckling the eating less calories the whole way, that to me would be a cause for concern. But if you're not, hey, it's really quite great.

Another interesting thing was many said they do not exercise. Just go for a walk here and there, etc. But what they described in a lot of cases actually seemed to add up to the recommended minimums, I thought, for exercise. Meaning exercise is done purely for health or even enjoyment, or in some cases getting an enhanced body shape (lifting). I've read sprinkles of all this in various locations, but it was really quite interesting to read them all in one place
