so I just ate a giant plate of Jamaican food, including ride, jerk chicken and ox tail. I really don't want to bloat up after this or feel the effects of the water weight in the next coming days. Is there anything I can do to make sure the water weight isn't as bad? Maybe use the elliptical for 30 minutes? I know I can't burn off the entire meal and I'm still below my calories for the day but I since this meal is so heavy, in worried of the effects it will have.

Will drinking water and peeing, as well as going on the elliptical help make some of the water weight from this meal come off?

Thanks

Just drink water, and don't get upset if you do get some salt bloat.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of the bloat? How long would that last exactly?
Will the elliptical help at all?

Drink lots of water to try and offset the sodium.

If water weight and daily fluctuations bother you so much, just don't weigh yourself for a couple of days.

Drinking a lot of water will definitely help. I have a favorite meal that ALWAYS keeps me bloated for days. Now I know to drink a ton of water that evening into the next day and that helps immensely.

I agree with just don't weigh. If you know you were under calories for the day, and you know it's just water, don't bother stepping on the scale. And drink lots of water, lol

I usually drink 4 large glasses of water after a salty meal and 2 more large glasses when I wake up the next morning and more throughout the day.
When I eat a salty meal, I'm just really thirsty till the salt is flushed out of my body.

So there's no way I gained actual weight from this right? Is there any way someone could check my diary to tell me what you think? Lol

If you overate, why wouldn't you gain weight?

This also works if you had too much to drink :)

At OP, I would weigh myself just to be aware of the effects of the meal. My experience is that it takes about 3-5 days to ride out the fluctuation.

Yeah I just had one pretty bad meal today, but I kept it within my calories.

I had chicharronnes (deep fried pork rind with fat and meat) yesterday. It was hard only having two small pieces. But now I want Jamaican food :o

Grats man, sounds amazing..Today I ate not one, but TWO sonic hot dogs, which are loaded with sodium...My plan on cheat meals is to eat a banana (helps a lot with chemical balances and such), and drink a bunch of water...I do this every time I have a lot of sodium and now days I rarely see a water weight spike. just imo

You can drink too much water which is just as bad or worse than too little. The old 8 glasses of water a day (64oz) has been replaced by how much you weight and your activity level. For information on how to calculate search for "How much water to drink based on your weight."

I drank a lot of water in the past 3 hours, about 3 500ml bottles.
