I am moving from a mild climate, daily high no more than 70F to the joy of a Houston summer than can reach 100F. I am curious to know if doing the same distance and speed of power walking will give the same or a higher calorie burn in a higher temperature? I am aware of more water loss due to the heat and will increase my water intake considerably.

Pretty sure that the burn will be the same regardless of temperature... (Other than temporary water loss, as you mentioned!)0

Unfortunately, heat has little bearing on calorie burn. In fact, your calorie burn may be less since you will fatigue more easily and thus may move slower/cover less distance.0

Since one of the main functions of calories is to keep your body warm, so you'll probably burn less in a warmer climate.0
