    I actually heard strength training is the best for you, helps you lose fat and maintain muscle, something like that, from personal experience it worked best for me.

    i lost 90lbs primarily through diet and lifting.

    if you're saying, can you lift and not do cardio, then certainly...but what you eat is still the most important factor.

    weight management is a about diet...lifting will help preserve your muscle mass so that when you cut the fat (diet) you will look better than had you not done any resistance training.

    I lift 3x weekly and I ride a good 60 - 80 miles per week and squeeze in a 5K or two every week...plus I walk my dog and am just generally active...I've lost weight, maintained weight, and gained weight doing all of those things; the difference between those weight management goals wasn't lifting or riding or exercise in general...it was how much I was eating.
