Help! Gps app vs trail mile markers - which is more accurate?

I went for a trail run today. Edomondo logged it as 2.55 miles, but according to the trail mile markers, it was only 2 miles. That's a HUGE difference.

Is Edomondo accurate? Anyone know? I never dropped the gps signal during the run.

I don't use Endomondo, but GPS in general often has trouble in woods and among tall buildings. I did a trail half last month and my Garmin was shortcutting each mile (so the same problem you had), beeping well before the marker. Everyone's Garmins were beeping early. Was the trail through a wooded area?

Trees, buildings, and cheap phones... All causes of inaccurate GPS.

Assuming you are using Endomondo on Android, you can have it alert you when it loses the GPS signal (probably ios as well). When trees and buildings are not an issue I find it fairly accurate. It was spot on in San Diego for the HM and it registered 3.2 miles for my 5K in Pittsburgh on the 4th. I'm guessing the San Diego course was more accurately laid out and the GPS nailed it.

Yes, android. I have it set to tell me if I stop the signal, but I never dropped the signal.

I'll stick to the mile markers. Thanks!
