inches over pounds

SOOOOOO

I have a problem with the scale, I become obsessive it drives everyone around me nuts, it causes me to almost starve myself. I also have a thyroid disorder which causes me to retain water (on any given day) which can cause my weight to fluctuate a lot.

So I decided to give up on the scale, I was trying to go 6 months, I started my new weight loss journey the end of march, so I guess we could say April.

Since April I've lost, 4 1/2 inches from my waist 2 1/2 inches from my chest and 3 inches from my hips - so 10 inches total. Which I mean is great, I'm 26, I work full time I have a 4 year old, a dog all that. I'm trying to be optimistic about it but it doesn't seem like enough, and I wanna maybe weigh myself but I'm scared it will make all my hard work seem not so great.

So does anyone else measure themselves? and can it be used as an accurate way of tracking my progress.

I know obviously I'm losing its just now I'm obsessing over how much, I think maybe I'm gonna try to make it too mid August so then I can set a new goal for myself after seeing how much pounds I've actually lost.

on a side note, I work out a bunch, and I am built really muscular, not huge, but I have strong build, and I'm at the gym 5 days a week, lifting, as well as cardio so muscle weighing more then fat could make the scale even less fun.

sorry for this.

:) have a great healthy happy day!

I go more by how clothes fit, measurements and progress photos than the scale. I do weigh myself, but a lot of times it's a matter of flipping off the scale and laughing at strange fluctuations or slow loss. No one else can see the number on the scale. It doesn't matter.

Inches are a good measure, but after a while, you still get to maintenance. I do a combination of cardio and strength - not heavy according to the fanatics, but enough to have lost 2 additional sizes after reaching my scale goal over two years ago as well as building my shoulders nicely.

My solution to the scale issue started years ago. I weigh myself every other week (sometimes less) on the same scale and I don't have a scale at home.

i would bet most of us use both the scale and measurements to note progress.

If the scale is an issue for you, get rid of it. I didn't have one for years. Now, I weigh throughout the week, but only log it on Fridays. My weight hasnt budged for about 2 weeks but pants are still getting looser, so i know something is happening LOL

I take measurements every Friday. Waist, chest, shoulders, bicep, thigh and neck. Taking measurements is far better then weighing yourself. Measurements are a real indication of how you actually look. Weight is not...

I check my scale every few days, if I remember. lol I measure weekly. My inches are constantly decreasing, the scale not so much. 28 days= 7lbs & 22in total lost. I would measure before I weigh. Starving yourself isn't going to move the scale much either. Remember Fuel the fire!
