Why did I gain a half pound this week? :(

I'm trying so hard. Why would I gain weight? I have my activity level set at lightly active, because I work at a busy coffee shop and have 3 kids. I'm hungry all the time and had too hard a time changing my setting to sedentary. 1200 calories a day was too little not to have daily headaches. What more can I do? I only want to lose about 10 pounds. It it just a lot more difficult if you don't have as much to lose? I feel like a failure today.

The less you have to lose, the slower it goes. Don't feel a failure, you're not one. Half a pound is easily within normal fluctuations. I am sure more knowledgeable people than me will be along soon to talk about hormones and water weight. Keep on working at it but be kind to yourself; life is too short to be unhappy.0

Weight loss is linear process. Don't stress numbers on a daily basis.0

Maybe try weighing in 1 time a week, preferably early in the AM right after you wake up, I feel like that is the most accurate weight. But don't beat yourself up about it. Just keep pushing!0

Water weight?
If you ate a meal with tons of sodium, you can retain a lot of water. Or, ToM issues.0 -
I don't bother to weigh myself more than once a week as water weight variances can be discouraging.0

half a pound is nothing...my weight fluctuates by 4 pounds per day easily0

I agree it is a normal variation. I also gain some around my time of the month too.0

My weight regularly fluctuates 1-2 lbs just day to day. You should look at a longer trend to see if you're on track. To lose only 10 lbs you should be set to a 1/2 lb a week deficit. 1200 is probably not right for you. Make sure your logging is accurate. To lose such a small amount close to or at a healthy weight you need to be very accurate with your logging.0
