Losing weight to fast?

Hello,
I used to do a lot of heavy lifting and weighed about 200 pounds at a heigh of 5' 8". I wasn't real cut, some ab definition but no six pack. I then didn't work out for about a year and ate very unhealthy and still weighed 200 pounds but not very strong. I wanted to lose far but not too much muscle as in the future I want to get back into lifting heavy. So I have been eating between 1800 and 2000 calories per day. I have been lifting for an hour and a half each day and jumping rope fast for 1 minute between sets. Today I weighed myself and am down 9 pounds in my first week. Is this too much weight? Should I be eating more? I am 24 years old and again I know some muscle lose may happen but I want to try and lose mostly fat. Thoughts?

That happens in the first week or so due to water weight dropping.0

Weight loss tends to be dramatic at first due to water loss, also if one has a lot to lose. Otherwise 9lbs would be too much.
The general theory is that slow/steady loss is sustainable and rapid loss could mean losing muscle.0
