I'm after a bit of advice/input please. As an experiment I've worn my hrm for the whole day in work. I'm surprised by how many calories I've burned off and I'm wondering how (or if) I should log it as my main aim is to wear it for a few days both in and out of work to get a more accurate idea of my average calorie burn to make sure I'm at least burning off what I'm eating. Hope that makes sense.

When you set up your profile, you entered your information for height/weight, etc. That calculated your regular calorie burn for each day. Then it gave you a calorie goal that included this calorie burn. I wouldn't log your regular calorie burn for the day. Just the amount burned during specific exercise.

Thats what I was thinking. Its more so that I can have a more accurate measure of my calorie burn on an average day. Thanks x

Read the manual for your HRM......they're not intended for all day use, just when you're engaged in steady state cardio exercise.

If you want something to wear all day you need a fitbit or similar activity tracker. You HRM won't be at all accurate.

A regular HRM will not be accurate for all day estimates. It will give you an inflated burn.

    1. Heart rate monitors are only accurate for steady-state cardio—like running.

    2. Work (including commuting, housework, yard work & childcare) is part of your exercise level, and should never be logged as exercise. Work = activity level. Workouts = exercise.

You could use your experiment to adjust your activity level accordingly, but do not log any of it. And don't use your HRM for anything other than cardio.
