Hello! I've been struggling with PCOS and insulin resistance for the last few years. I went on the brith control pill to help with the hormone issues for a bit. I'm off of the pill now and my PCOS is worse than ever. Before I was pretty non-symtomatic, but now I'm experiencing all the common symptoms! It's awful! So for the last 6 months I have been determined to change my diet to treat my issue instead of going on more hormone supplements. I want to do this as naturally as possible. Does anyone have any helpful thoughts on this matter or have any personal stories to share?

Doing things the way nature intended is usually a great idea. Healthy, organic and all natural eating free from processed chemicals and treatments is a great way to start, cutting out things that look like they're right off the periodic table usually results in some slight cravings and emotional changes as you ween off them but you'll start to feel better than you ever have. The same thing goes for what you're drinking, try to stick to water, with any of the billions of herbal teas for variety. Don't forget to treat yourself every now and then but make sure you "fancy" it and don't "need" it when you do. Your body has it's own chemical balance it needs to retain. Introducing strange new chemicals that you can find in foods, medicines and treatment even some hair dyes can often have odd effects on the bodies chemical balance, even when being treated in hospital doctors take great care not to over-medicate you. (note: I'm no doctor, follow a doc's advice when it comes to medicine!)

Anyway there's my two cents! Add me! and feel free to ask any questions!

I've had PCOS for years but kind of ignored it by taking the pill. Didn't work to well for me and over 4 years I've put on 40 kg. Now trying to get back to my goal weight and avoiding all the hormones that the doctor's are trying to get me to take. I'm seeing a naturopath and that seems to be helping. One step at a time for me. Add me if you want to support each other. :)
