Splenda Addiction and Hunger

Hello everyone,

I found Splenda waaaaay back in 2001 when I was doing Atkins, and I loved it. It tasted far better than Equal or S&L, and no metallic aftertaste. Once I had my gastric bypass 7 years ago, Splenda was a godsend for my tea (once I was able to have tea again). However, I've noticed that the amount I used increased over the years. At first, I could use 2 packs in a cup of tea. I swear I just realized a week ago I was putting 4 packs in a standard glass of tea and 5 in my Grande Cappuccino (16oz). I'd have 1/2 a cup of my Greek yogurt and put at least 3 packs in. I started to think that maybe I had a problem. So, I decided to reduce and, hopefully, do away with sweeteners all together. Granted, I'll still want at least 1 pack in my yogurt, but maybe I can just be happy with the natural sugar from the fruit.

Ok, anyway, in the past week I've only put 2 packs in my tea, 2 in my yogurt, and I'm down to 3 in my cappuccino. One side effect I didn't expect was the effect on my hunger/cravings. I know it has only been a week, but I swear my hunger and cravings have reduced. And, in turn, I am not snacking as much and that scale is coming back down.

I know they have put out studies about this exact thing, but I also saw studies that refute it. Is it all in my head, or has anybody else done Splenda detox and experienced the same thing?
