Yes, you can do some amazing body weight exercises that build muscles all over your entire body including your core. But it's the calorie deficit and losing enough body fat for them to show, that's the key. Do the work to build the muscle, focus on the calorie deficit to lose the fat. Boom! Winning strategy right there in a nutshell.

I train calisthenics a lot and you definitely put on muscle however getting a 6 pack is a whole other world. You could have the best abs in the world but if your body fat percentage isn't below 14% ( 10% for males ) you will never have a six pack.

    I had a 6 pack when i was about 20% body fat.
I hold most of my fat on my Legs,...so it is definitely possible at more than 14%.

Checkout some YouTube channels dedicated to calisthenics, I like the "Barstars" channel personally. They feature both highly advanced competitive types and completely home grown individuals who display impressive feats.

They also heavily promote health and exercise in their native NYC neighborhoods.

Having visible abs has more to do with having a low body fat % than having big ab muscles. So, while I'm no expert on the subject, I woud say you almost certainly would.

You are a woman. Women have different body fat percentages than men. 20% for women is in the low area, while 20% for men is depending on age, normal bordering on high. A low body fat percentage for a man would be 8-13% depending on age. Whole different thing.

Same. Thighs and boobs. I was at 18% body fat with decent ab definition. It is my goal to get there again.

    Yes, i know.
Delboyholmes (who i quoted), implied you had to have 14% body fat or lower as a woman. In brackets he stated 10% for Males.

This is what he stated" You could have the best abs in the world but if your body fat percentage isn't below 14% ( 10% for males ) you will never have a six pack.

I think it really comes down to your genetics of where you store fat rather than being in a certain bodyfat percentage range. In my pics I'm 16% bodyfat but clearly have abs showing. I have gone up to 19% recently with still visible abs. I have been tested recently with skinfold calipers and a few month back I had a dexa scan so My figures are pretty accurate.

I agree - my core is very strong but my 44 year old body just doesnt want to go below 15% bodyfat and unless I go on some starvation diet Ill never get there. I say 6-packs are also a genetic thing. Some of us are blessed and some of us are cursed. Thats the truth. :(

absolutely. I guess i'll use all those greek statues as evidence. I mean, maybe they were doing a lot of compound lifts with barbells back then, but I think not.

this is a phenomenal progressive program. no weights but you'd need something to hang from (eventually)

I second that. I (unfortunately) store way more fat in my chest then any man has business doing. So I actually start seeing definition in my abs when, by other standards, I'm still kinda out of shape.
