A power cage, 300Lb Olympic weight set, 2 adjustable weight benches, a set of power blocks, Olympic dumbell handles, Pulldown/row machine with I can load up with Olympic plates, Jungle Gym XT (highly recommend), dip station, home made pull-up station, stability balls, and I think that is it. I have built that up over more that 25 years though.

If I was starting out now, I would probably start with body weight stuff since that I what I primarily do now and get a Jungle Gym XT or TRX. Then I would add a good quality adjustable dumbell set like powerblocks and a bench. Then I would go for the power cage and Olympic weight set. The pullup station was easy enough to put together and fairly inexpensive as well.

Over the years I've picked up a treadmill, rowing machine, multi-gym machine (weights), spinning bike, a power tower and assorted weights, kettlebells, Bosu ball, TRX etc etc.

Were I doing it over I probably would forget the multi-gym in favour of freeweights (at the time I bought it my kids were too young to spot for me but I've certainly gotten my moneys worth from it) and I wouldn't have bought the spinning bike (I use a trainer with my road bike in the winter now).

I probably get the most use from just a good old pair of running shoes followed by the rowing machine.
