Fit bit and the activity level

If I use a fit bit to track my activity should I put my activity level on fitness pal to the lowest setting? I'm up and walking around all day with my kids but the fitbit accounts for that right? Today fit bit modified my calories on fitness pal by over 700 and it was a pretty chill day.

If (and only if) you enable negative calorie adjustments in your diary settings, it's entirely a matter of personal preference: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

It's up to you. I had it on lightly active for the first 18 months I was here, then moved to sedentary. The only difference now is I get a bigger adjustment, but the end calories would still be equal. Just make sure you keep negative adjustments checked.
  • might be a silly question but what happens if you dont have negative adjustments checked? I have my fitbit to mark my steps on MFP, but my caloric goal is always 1950. Saying that, I never eat my exercise calories back either.

what happens if you dont have negative adjustments checked?

Then you'll never eat at a true deficit on days you burn fewer calories than your MFP activity level.

With them enabled, eating back your adjustments means you're eating TDEE minus deficit.

    Connect your accounts at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/fitbit

Set your goal to .5 lb. for every 25 lbs. you're overweight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/change_goals_guided

    Enable negative calorie adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings

Ignore your Fitbit calorie goal and follow MFP's, eating back your adjustments. No need to log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you. Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) either in Fitbit or in MFP—never both.

If you burn less on a day than MFP says you should, if negative adjustments are enabled, then it takes away calories to make sure you aren't overeating

Ah thanks for explaining that. I'll change that now =)
