You shouldn't log stretching, yoga, push ups, or sit ups as calorie burning exercises.

Come do yoga with me and I'll demonstrate how Sun Salutations get your heart rate up ;)

    Also:

Yoga may benefit heart health as much as aerobics

Those sun salutations and downward dogs could be as good for the heart as cycling or brisk walking, and easier to tolerate for older people and those with health challenges, according to a new review of existing research.

Based on 37 clinical trials, researchers found that doing yoga lowered blood pressure, cholesterol, heart rate and other cardiovascular risk factors in increments comparable to those seen with aerobic exercise.

    I would buy into this

But that doesn't counteract the fact it's not a calorie burner

    What is your goal?
I want to lose fat and a bit of weight since I have a big belly despite my height and average build.

OK. I think that you have a good start and probably just need to clean up your logging/diet a bit. Are you lifting weights or doing another form of resistance strength training? You are at a good weight so eating at maintenance and lifting weights or doing another form of progressive resistance training (bodyweight exercises, even weight machines) will likely help you more than just straight up trying to lose weight.

Take an Ashtanga class and let me know if you still feel like yoga doesn't burn calories ;)

However, that's not what the OP is doing, which is a few minutes of yoga here and there, presumably stretching before and after running, etc.

Yoga is no more of a calorie burner than walking ... low intensity, low caloric output activities.

Why do you imagine I have never taken an ashtanga yoga class? although I admit my preference is Hatha

And just because yoga can indeed be challenging it doesn't mean it burns a lot of calories

I'd allow about 100 calories for an hour class
