What am I doing wrong?

I took my measurement so I could buy some new summer clothes online.

waist: 28'
hips 35"
chest 30"

I am 5'7" and 130 lbs

I measured my waist at the most narrow part of my torso, which for me is about 4 -5 inches above my bellybutton. I measured my hips at my hipbone. I measured my chest around my ribcage just under my breast line.

According to the sizing chart, my chest makes me smaller than an extra small, my hips make me an XS, and my waist makes me a Med. I usually shop at thrift stores so end up trying everything on. I wear tons of different brands so I am a different size in everything, but the average is probably a medium for tops and size 6 for bottoms.

What's a girl to do?

Your chest measurement should be round your nipples and your hips should be at the widest part, so probably a bit below your hip bones. They usually have a diagram of where to measure on websites, I'm surprised the website you're using doesn't.

I think chest is measured around the nipple line, not your band size.

If you make a loop with the measuring tape that's parallel to the floor, the widest measurement in your hip region and the widest measurement at your bust are those measurements you should use. For the waist, it really can depend. I measure the narrowest part of my abdomen and the widest part, then average the two for my "waist" measurement (unless a clothing company says "2" above the navel" or something in their charts, then I use that).

With corrected measurements, that gives me:
    waist 28"
    hips 38"
    chest 32"

Now my hips and waist are giving me a medium or size 6/8. Thanks everyone!
