Making gym buddies

Hi All,
So my question for you, what is the best way to create a gym buddy? I hate hate hate working out alone, I love having competition, conversations and receiving and giving constant critique on form but I don’t want to pay for it (i.e. Trainer) I know for some working out is a very independent thing and I am always feeling like it would be intrusive to start a conversation with someone mid workout. How did you find your gym match?

I have a couple of gym pals. We don't necessarily workout side by side, mostly give pointers, check form etc. Honestly it took me awhile because I am very shy and generally wear a stink face at all times. Just strike up a conversation with someone you think knows what he/she is doing. If they are doing a lift you've never seen, ask them about it when they are done.0
