TOO much protein?

Hello! I was wondering has anyone here any advice on what TOO much protein is? Thing is, I LOVE my protein shakes and Id love to have 2 a day and just make my other meals slightly smaller - I am trying to gain some weight (muscle) so I have more calories to take in. I find protein shakes so easy to take and delicious! But I already eat a very high protein diet and reach my daily goal of about 30-35%, but if I have another shake its a VERYYY high protein diet.
Is this okay during a "bulk", or is it a bit much on the body? Advice would be well appreciated!

What are your stats and how many grams of protein are you eating?
If you really feel it's too much, you can still drink the shake without the added protein powder.0 -
Yeah but then it's just banana and water...that wouldnt taste very good!! At the moment Im 5'5", 24, 50kg, eat about 175g protein/day and im on 2250 calories per day. And yes I do take in that much protein. Im trying to gain but not too fast - this is my first "bulk" and Im also recovering from anorexia so this weight gain thing is huge for me! Im so proud of myself but I wanna make sure Im doing it right!0

you could do a half scoop instead, and maybe add something else like yogurt to thicken it up.0

That amount of protein won't be an issue - however, if concerned, talk to your support team.0

Yeah I could BUT the flavour and yummy texture of the protein! Half a scoop is a good idea - but its still way over my macros for the day and I'v HEARD that its bad to have too much protein (liver cant handle it)0

You don't need that much protein but it's not an amount that is concerning either.0

The issue generally isn't the liver but renal clearance function - again, generally speaking, in the absence of disease 175 g of protein isn't an issue.0 -
I know I dont need that amount I just happen to eat a lot of high protein foods! I've been trying to change things a bit to actually lower my protein which is strange as people are usually trying to up it!0

I mean you can eat that much and it won't be a problem.0 -
Yes thanks I understand! Thank you0

Too much protein is beyond 0.80 grams protein per 1 lb. bodyweight, every single day...
Plain and simple.0 -

Yes. The problem is that you are wasting all of that extra protein--your body just flushes it out after a certain point.
You might want to mention this to your doctor, just to be on the safe side. Very few people have their renal function tested on a regular basis unless they already know that they have an issue. Better safe than sorry!0 -
