I've noticed quite a few posts about the study that says without medical intervention the obese will not lose a significant amount of weight. It's important to note that those medical interventions force individuals to take responsibility by making it difficult to dangerous to eat more so they are in fact calorie restricted diets that involve tracking and exercise (or else you risk damage) -- they are not doing something significantly different to what all of us are doing they are simply employing different strictest motivation. That actually proves that what you are doing here is right and the only way to lose weight so take heart and stick with it.
