Hi Everyone,
This old, couch potato biked across the west coast, Seattle to LA, this past summer. I am 45 years old and was not exercising for most of my life. Then, about 7 years ago I tried to get on a bike. I road to the end of my block and returned home while pushing my bike back to the garage. Before I knew it, 1 block became two and then three. I met someone a year or two later, and she convinced me to go on a 3 mile ride. I thought she was crazy, but I agreed. It changed my life because after doing three miles, I realized I'm a cyclist. I purchased a better bike and before I knew it, I was biking to work and other places.
Did I mention I have 6 kids, full time job, and at that time I was in grad school. Why? Because I love a good challenge. Well fast forward to last summer. It was a 30 day semi-supported trip and I averaged 40-60 miles a day. I'm looking for friends to encourage each other and to stay on track. I noticed that over the winter I lose strength and have to retrain. I'm currently biking 20-30 miles daily, but hope to build up to more.
Have a great day,
Chaya
