hey all.
I have had IBS since I was 15 and the past month it has been really bad I am trying to pin point foods which affect this and I have found that rice does pain and bloating.
Other than rice, can anyone suggest an accompaniment to certain recipes??? I want to avoid to many carbs such as baked potatoe for similar reason x

Hi I suffer with IBS as well and figuring out what foods bother you can be difficult. One tol I now use is the low fodmap diet. Just google it and you will get all the info you need. It can help you find "safe" foods and substitutions. Hope this helps.0

Rice gets me too! I've tried adding more greens, lighter on the carbs but my tummy doesn't complain. On the IBS note do u find it hard to reach the fiber quota? If so how....... I've had to use psyllium husk to try and bring it up0

I am only on day 3 I take a fibre supplement every day and have weetabix for my breakfast so I know k am getting enough fibre.
I also take aloe Vera gel every day which really helps0 -
Wow, I'm guess I'm lucky that my IBS is not really linked to certain foods...
What worked for me, is that someone taught me how to do a shiatsu massage on my belly. It helps to kinda activate them again if they get stuck (don't know how to describe it better.)0 -
I find stress to be the biggest IBS trigger for myself. I've cut out wheat, eat very low dairy (yogurt and hard cheese only and in small amounts) and am very careful with raw vegetables. I know that if I have certain vegetables especially along with a heavy carb that I'm in for some trouble. Even so, its the days/weeks where I put my body through more stress, whether a new workout program or a busy family time, that's when it hits the worst and so I try to eat things that are easy to digest to try and prevent it as much as possible.
I take probiotics daily and it has helped a TON with many of the cramping/D symptoms but not so much with the bloating/C symptoms. I just started adding taking enzymes to difficult to digest meals, hope it works.0 -
I have Crohns Disease (1996), I know your pain! While I don't personally follow this myself, there seems to be positive feedback on focusing on eating Low FODMAP foods.

I've had it since I was a child. Try the low fodmap diet to figure out what food is safe and what isn't.0
