Should I do crunches and push ups every day?

I got lazy. I used to work out with people. I was in shape. I need my motivation back. I can't afford to join that group anymore.
Should I do crunches every day? What are your recommendation on that?

Chest and abs need recovery time, same as other muscles. Abs get worked when you do other exercises, anyway, so you do probably work them every day to some extent.

They make military recruits do it all the time with no issues.

Why would you do crunches everyday?

No....but you need to move more everyday.

The answer to your question would be easier to give if you explained what it is you are trying to do.
    - Lose weight
    - Gain muscle mass

Abs get worked by doing other workouts. I'd recommend Burpees, Mtn. Climbers and Plank Jacks to substitute "crunches or push ups Only"

I do. I bike a lot and already get a lot of lower body exercise but needed help with my core and upper body. I do two sets of pushups and crunches along with some basic stretches every morning. It takes only a few minutes so I can do it every day no matter how busy I am, and it really gets my metabolism going. I started slowly, doing sets of 10 pushups and 30 crunches (10 straight, 10 touching elbow to opposite knee, 10 with legs raised straight up). Then I added another one and three respectively every Monday so that now I'm doing two sets of 25 pushups and 75 crunches (25/25/25). Works great for me.

Yes they do but isolation work also helps with supporting the back.

Yes, yes yes. Then add a bit more to that, it won't hurt.

Do crunches on odd days and pushups on even days.

    I want a flat belly.

    A) A "flat belly" is made in the kitchen

    B) Crunches won't "flatten" the abdominal area.

    C) Look into full body work, there is plenty you can do with body weight exercises, and plenty more than push-ups and crunches.

In the Air Force, they only made us do push ups and running every day.

I do crunches every day :). My mission sixpack app tells me to, so I do :). You can do them every day, but don't over do it. It is just down to how you feel. I am not a trainer though, so I don't know if you SHOULD do them everyday. But I do and it is fine.

You can, but crunches won't give you a 6 pack.
