Count steps for extra calories or not?

I have my step counter on my phone which rewards me with extra intake calories the more I walk...but if I go for a run and it calculates the steps and I also add it as cardio, do I subtract the calories I was given for steps and just keep the ones for cardio? Or keep them all?

I would subtract the ones for regular steps because should already be included in your MFP calulation when you state or activity level.0

Don't keep them all. I would just add the run. I try to walk 12000 steps (5 km) per day but I don't log any of those, and have my activity level set to sedentary. I only add back in workout calories like running and eat those calories back.0

Is your app synced to MFP? That means is your phone comparing against the activity level you set in MFP.
I have a FitBit One - it's synced to MFP. I have mine set to sedentary. It will add calories IF I go above sedentary. It will subtract calories if I'm below sedentary. Step based exercise would be included in my FitBit adjustments. I would either remove the FitBit (for the run) or I would accept FitBits' numbers to avoid double counting.0 -
I am using my Iphone's built in motion processor. So it only calculates steps when I have my phone on my person. I generally take a walk mid-day and it will say I earned xxx calories. Maybe I should disable the step tracker?0

If you're using your phone to track your steps, do not log any step-based activity.
