Fast food salads

i usually have the maccas warm grilled chicken salad, it comes in at $8 a serve and 140 cals approx. it's not the most filling meal, but that topped with half a large diet soda and eating barely anything that day, i was pretty halfway through0

I have one of those lettuce spinners that I keep mine in. I've had lettuce stay looking & tasting fresh for 2 weeks!0

That's an Aussie dish or British, I think ... I don't see it here in the U.S. 140 cals sounds way too small for an American portion, too; our salads aren't often much less than 250-300 cals. Maybe it would be good if McD's did bring it here. Cheers.0

Totally depends on what's available near you and what you consider fast food. But why are you limited to fast food and salads? You can call up most restaurants and order something to go too, and it will be ready for pick up 15 minutes later.
Honestly I haven't eaten any fast food salad in over a year. Just not worth the calories to me (except Panera or Chipotle or random mall food court places).0 -
So, we have restaurants that are not fast food, yes. But quantifying or guessing at calories and amounts is very difficult to do. Chains like McDonalds make the counting much easier (even though I understand that actual product will vary some).0

Make meals in advance. I cook a bunch of seasoned chicken at once, and i freeze it with a side of rice and mixed veggies. Save me time and money. 2 .5 mins in microwave and you have a healthy meal.0

I know ... with three jobs and a family, it's hard to get that done. Truthfully, 3/5 work days, I do bring lunch.0
-
the Asian Chicken and Cashew salad at Wendy's is what I usually get when I'm on a road trip or something.0

It would take me more time to drive and pick up lunch than it would to just make it at home, so I don't really understand the time factor. My salads are made at night and they are never wilted. If that is a problem, separate your lettuce from the other stuff with a layer of a small paper towel to keep the lettuce dry until you're ready to mix it all up.0

Oh, the time factor is I have an hour at lunchtime that is dedicated only to lunch, but my mornings and evenings are much busier with lots of things going on. A bunch of restaurants within a 5-minute drive. (Really, I should work on getting up an hour earlier .... )0

hey man, there is a problem for every solution if you want.

So yeah, thanks, I get that there's a problem for every solution. So, I had asked specifically this:
"So, any thoughts about eating sensibly at fast food joints? Subway excepted, what other fast food salads are there worth trying?"
Cheers.0 -
If the fast food restaurants are only a 5 minute drive away, why not walk there and then get something with slightly more calories that actually tastes good/fills you up?0
-
Maybe 3 miles no sidewalks at 40mph ... What's that at walking speed? 40 minutes one way?
I sort of had an idea of exercise as a different thread for weight loss. And, I didn't really want to confuse my goals with exercise with food all in one thread. So, I was asking about food. Good thoughts though. Some walking is better than none.
Cheers,

So asking again... why salads? You can find some 550 calories meals at some restaurants that are more filling than salads. Also, you still haven't mentioned what kind of restaurants are in your area, so it's impossible to give a good answer.
But to answer your question, in the exception of Panera, I find fast food salads disgusting.

Thanks! My bad. I thought asking "So, any thoughts about eating sensibly at fast food joints? Subway excepted, what other fast food salads are there worth trying?" didn't require knowing what restaurants are in my area. Will be more careful next time. Cheers.0

Well. Maybe someone will have the time and patience to look up every single restaurant chain and see what low calorie options they have for you then. I certainly don't. Sorry I can't help.0

Arby's has a good salad. It's called the Farmhouse Salad. It's pretty big, but I can't remember how many calories.0

That wasn't what I asked, but thanks for considering it. Cheers.0 -
Will checkout Arby's. Looking for good salad.
