Alright folks, I am going on vacation next week and am trying my best not to derail my progress. What are some of your favorite workouts to do while away (I'll be at the beach if that helps).
P.S. I don't love running :)

Walking, resistance band, squats, push-ups-regular or modified depending on what you can do. Have fun!!

-Youtube videos on a laptop, tablet, or phone.

-Walking around (seriously, I went to NYC and walked 15 miles a day, no need to workout on top of that)

-Deck of cards workout (this is only one variation of this):

The beach is hopefully connected to a body of water. So do some swimming.

Walk a lot! I used to feel compelled to sit and sit and sit all day with my family and friends at the beach. Now I don't feel guilty for heading out on my own for a walk or a run. Or swim!

I have to go with swimming, too. If you're at the beach, that's an obvious one.

Most decent hotels have cardio machines in a workout room.

    Have fun! :)

I always love doing the public park workout I put together! I made a video of the routine I usually do when on vacation. It's a total body workout so it gives you as much bang for your buck time wise as possible. Really any park/playground will do and I've yet to take a vacation that didn't have one within a few minutes of where I was staying.

Besides swimming, hiking and taking in the sights are always a great way to stay active on vacation. Will there be any historical stuff around where you're going? Walking tours are always a fun, yet active way of staying busy while away. Edit: I saw that you DO love running instead of don't so I took it out.

Most of all, have fun at whatever you're doing and relax. Enjoy the vacation!

Thanks for all the suggestions, these are great! There's been a bunch of sharks reported along this beach lately so swimming makes me nervous, but perhaps it will just be motivation to swim faster ;) I have never seen the card workout before, but I am fascinated!

I'm at the beach right now. I went for a walk on the beach yesterday and today I rented a kayak and went kayaking for an hour. If I were to stay longer, I would probably look for some hiking.

Walking, walking, walking. Depending on where you go, dips might be easy to do. We went to Disney World last year and I did dips while bored and waiting in line for the bus.

generally when I'm on vacation, I'm up and going and seeing and doing...the most I've ever done on a vacation in terms of deliberate exercise was I went for a jog...mostly because a jog on the beach sounded nice.

you aren't going to derail anything taking some time for vacation...and like I said...if you're like me, you're going to be on the go.

My husband and I just came back from a 3-week holiday in Canada. Here's what we did ...

-- brought our folding bikes and cycled most days, including one day where we rode 100 miles. We had been building up to doing that. :)

-- walked everywhere. I think we walked every day but one where we just couldn't fit it in.

-- hiked to the top of a mountain with my cousin. I had looked up hikes in the area, discovered that there are a whole bunch, and brought the topic up at a BBQ. My cousin, who is really into hiking, was really enthusiastic, and before we knew it we were hiking up this mountain. Spectacular hike!! :)

-- rented a double sea kayak and spent an hour in it. I've never been in a kayak before, but my husband has and has been trying to get me into one. It was a gorgeous day ... perfect conditions, so I thought .. why not? Good upper body workout.

Also, most hotels have gyms these days. They may not be large, but can provide you with a decent workout of some sort.

And many parks/beaches have outdoor exercise equipment now. While walking through the park or along the beach, stop and do a couple circuits on the equipment.

I'm on vacation in Vegas. Hit the fitness center treadmill yesterday morning and will be there tomorrow morning too. I plan to be there at least 2 other days -- in addition to all the walking this week!
