Can anyone fill me in on if using just dumbbells is a good way to recomp. Im healthy BMI - just wanna lose body fat, look better....
Currently testing out OHP 20lbs total, Deads 30lb total , Squats 20lbs total, tris and bis 10bls, push ups (no weights), BP on floor 20lbs, Butterfly on floor 20lbs., 30second planks. Wiperblade abs lol. Back exercise with 20lbs. Lunges with 20lbs total.
Also, will cardio be required at all? or is 3X30min walks a day fine....I have a desk job 5 days a week though...

Are you using an established routine or are you making one up? I would suggest using an established program. Here is one that you can use: http://www.howtobeast.com/gain-mass-with-dumbbell-bulking-routine/

As you can see, you will be upping your reps and then at a certain point adding weight and lower your reps and then moving back up again. That type of progression (plus proper diet, meaning eating at maintenance for a recomp) is what will help you add muscle and lose body fat.

Do cardio if you want to. Don't do it if you don't want to. It's not mandatory. Your walks are fine.

Howdy. I am using Dumbbells to recomp and following Jamie Eason's 12 week LiveFit program. It's free! I love her and just started trying some of her recipes that are now staples in my diet.

I'm starting week 4 tomorrow. It's a great program and I do alternatives to any machine work. So far it's working just fine but as I need heavier weight I might need to invest in a bar. I do have a weight bench at home which is helpful for chest press/flyes/seated shoulder press etc. I've been sore in all the right places where when I was doing my own routine I didn't feel that way. There's 4 phases to the program...all info is online at bodybuilding.com.

We use the same amount of weight and sound very similar. I'm a healthy bmi as well, just looking to get some muscle definition and flatter abs ;).

Sounds great bmchenry! Nice to meet you. Thanks for the add. Yup flatter belly and nicer shaped body in total would be awesome!
