I read that during weight loss a person needs to double their protein intake. For me that means 180 grams per day. Has anyone else heard of this?

No. I've heard that people often eat more protein in a cut, but not double.

Bullpucky.... however, if you drop carbs which I did (especially eliminating most sugar crap) and watch fat intake, your protein will naturally be higher. If you are lifting weight intending on building muscle, experts recommended 1G Protein per 1LB of Lean Body Mass (some as much as 2G) But to lose weight, in my experience, it is simply a matter of eating less than you burn. Personally, I like a higher protein and nothing wrong with as much as you can fit in your day :)

it doesn't have to be double...eating more protein is going to help you hold on to more lean mass though. I personally don't know any female who needs 180 grams of protein...hell, I probably get around 115 - 120...maybe a little more on lifting days when I supplement

I don't agree with eating more protein. I agree with eating less. I do agree with eating more fiber, though.
