I'm diabetic, too. It does matter what kind of diabetes you have, though. If you're type 2, try to fill up on non-starchy vegetables, like celery, cabbage, or spinach. Drink water; learn to love it! Protein (lean meat, beans, eggs) should center each meal. Carbs are not the enemy, just choose healthy ones in single portions. Snack on a handful of nuts once a day, if you can.

You will figure out what works best for you. If you work cardio, you might add a few extra grams of carbs and protein to prevent a drop in your blood levels. Id you're working strength, focus on protein and good fats. Good luck.

There are a few differing diets recommended for T2 diabetics. I'm prediabetic, but I chose to eat very low carb with high fat to address my blood glucose levels. So far it is working and I am losing weight by using a calorie deficit, and my fating blood glucose has almost normalized.

Dr Bernstein's Diabetes Solution has helped me a fair bit. A good read.

    Best wishes

If you haven't yet, consult a Registered Dietician who'll help you design a correct eating plan for yourself.

Not sure what kind of diabetes you have or what your treatment method is (if you have type 2). Everything needs to be planned so it works together. For example, if you are taking fast acting or rapid acting insulin, then going low carb at that meal is going to put you at risk of hypoglycemia.

My suggestion is to put together a plan with a CDE.

How often are you testing? Lower glycemic index foods / lower carb and lower processed sugar is best. If you will eat carbs, try to pair it with protein and fat. Keep losing excess weight.
