Hi. It's nice to meet you.
I'm a career woman with three kids, a husband and a golden retriever (Clover).
My fav. things to do are to swim, hang with my family, camping, read, go to the horse farm and watch my kids ride. I also like to hang with my friends on occasion. I'm 5'5 and look pretty athletic.
I'm on here because every eight years I have some sort of health scare and so you guessed it, my good eight years are up and I've been diagnosed with something new. LOL. Meanwhile, my family and my extended family don't seem to have any challenges other than my dad has high cholesterol. Sigh. So every eight years, I get some sort of lecture about eating better and doing more exercise (is that possible?) and in this latest round, I am on the Mediteranean Diet. I am trying to look at all of this with humour as I watch people in long line ups at the Tim Hortons and Wendys ect. when I drive by.
I knew people from Spain who were on the Mediteranean Diet and so my understanding of it is that you mostly just put olive oil on bread. But it's much more than that. It means...lots of salad too and fish.
The coolest thing is I could never get my Acid Reflux (diagnosed eight years ago) to take a hike. But I'm maybe five or six weeks into this and I am unmedicated for this almost overnight.
So I have already learned from this experience that good fats are important to your body. I honestly didn't know that. I'm the kind of person that always says 'no sauce'. No salad dressing.
I like how if I go under reports, I can see my polyunsaturated and monounsaturated and saturated fat. So I've gone from someone who rarely ate twenty grams of fat a day up to close to fifty and the health just keeps on getting better. Sort of unreal.
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself. I recently received an email in my inbox from someone on here who shared his wife's experience with this diet. It was so nice! Feel free to get in touch.
